“A tsunami of data is approaching the shores of our civilization. It is a wave of unrelated, growing data in the form of bits and bytes, flowing in an unorganized, uncontrolled, incoherent cacophony of foam.” This is how one of Richard S. Wurman’s most important books begins, a book that gave rise to a new discipline and profession: information architecture. Despite the passage of time, these words remain relevant today. In the 21st century, artificial intelligence (AI) can help information architects master the element of countless data. Thanks to the use of appropriate algorithms, machine learning, language recognition, and voice search, AI supports humans in organizing, searching, and accessing information. This raises questions that the author will attempt to answer, including: How can IA and AI support each other? Will AI take over the tasks of information architecture? Will the tasks of information architects change in light of the possibilities offered by AI?
