The aim of the presentation is to highlight the differences between the terms “functionality” and “usability.” These terms are often the starting point in the process of conceptualizing research in the field of information architecture for mobile and stationary software or wayfinding solutions in real environments. Establishing usability measurability indicators used by solution architects can not only greatly facilitate research, but also make it possible in the first place. The paper will highlight the differences between the two concepts and formulate an answer to the question: “How to study usability?” The following methods were used in the research: bibliographic, analysis and criticism of literature, and heuristic.

information architecture, research conceptualization, wayfinding, functionality, usability, usability metrics
