The Institute of Information Sciences invites you to the 2nd Conference on ‘Information Architecture as an Academic Discipline’ – a gathering of researchers, lecturers, designers, UX/HCI specialists and students dedicated to the theory, research, education and practical applications of information architecture.
This is the second time we have come together for the ‘Information Architecture as an Academic Discipline’ conference. This time, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our conference is being held entirely online.
Information architecture is a field of research and a profession concerned with the broadly defined design of information in a way that facilitates the user’s understanding of it and ensures its usability. Adapting the presentation of information to users’ needs in a world of information overload also requires the use of original methods based, amongst other things, on the concept of user-centred design.
Cooperation amongst all relevant communities therefore seems essential to ensure that the training of information architects is of a high standard, characterised by innovative teaching methods and the development of theory and scientific research that form the basis for thinking about the modern and useful design of information objects that populate the infosphere of contemporary society.
We wish for the information space to be an inspiring and beautiful place, one that helps people achieve their goals. We believe that, thanks to our conference and your participation, we will initiate a discussion on defining the paradigm of information architecture as a discipline.
Who is it for?
We invite representatives from institutes and centres offering degree programmes, specialisations and modules in the fields of information architecture (IA), usability, information graphics and information design to take part. We also warmly encourage staff from companies specialising in the design of websites and information systems, operating in the UX/HCI sector, as well as students – including members of academic societies – to attend the meeting.
